Sanjeeb Phuyal

​​Sanjeeb Phuyal is the Nepali editor of Newschecker based in Kathmandu, Nepal. He brings over a decade of experience writing and editing breaking news and features on Nepali politics, society, environment and current affairs. Most of his work appeared in Kathmandu Post, where he spent over ten years leading and managing the online team and putting innovative ideas into practice. Besides overseeing daily news, features and visual journalism, he’s also translated and edited content for Nepal Forum for Environmental Journalists. With the growth of social media platforms—and the ever-growing competition amongst media outlets to churn out breaking news, he feels that fact-checking every piece of news and information has become essential today than ever before.

Aakash Chhetri
Nepali Fact Checker

Aakash Chhetri is a Nepali fact-checker with nearly ten years of experience. He has worked with some of Nepal’s best digital media outlets, including Annapurnapost, Ekagaj, Nepal Khabar and Pahilopost. Before joining Newschecker, he worked as a desk editor for Nepal’s most prominent daily – Naya Patrika. Chhetri is passionate about debunking fake news that has started growing in threatening proportions with the proliferation of social media outlets.

Preeti Chauhan
Operations Manager

Believing in the notion of ‘live and let live’, Preeti feels it’s important to counter and check misinformation and prevent people from falling for propaganda, hoaxes, and fake information. She holds a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from Guru Jambeshawar University and has been a journalist & producer for 10 years.

Ruby Dhingra
Managing Editor and Head

Ruby leads editorial, operations and initiatives at Newschecker. In her former avatar at New Delhi Television (NDTV), India’s leading national news network, she was a news anchor, supervising producer and senior output editor. Her over a decade-long career encompasses ground-breaking reportage from conflict zones and reporting on terror incidents, election campaigns, and gender issues. Ruby is an Emmy-nominated producer and has handled both local and international assignments, including the coverage of Arab Spring in 2011, the US Presidential elections in 2016, and ground reportage on the Kashmir issue since 2009.

Rajneil Kamath

Rajneil began his career in Google with Adwords Content Operations, moved to sales and then to Public Policy and Government Affairs. During his tenure at Google, he got a first-person view of content policy, community guidelines, product policy, and other public policy issues. Post his stint at Google, he founded a technology company before establishing Newschecker. He calls himself a product of the internet and mobile era and is determined to combat disinformation online. He looks after the day to day affairs and management of the organisation and does not participate in the editorial decisions of Newschecker.
