Prime Minister Balendra Shah has instigated hue and cry in Indian media. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adithya Nath responded to Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah's shot.
No, the viral video shows an unrelated clip of Yogi Adityanath recalling successful recovery of 65,000 acres of illegally occupied land from the mafia.
A video claiming that Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s “shot has stirred up a hue and cry in India” is going viral on TikTok. The viral video purportedly shows Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath responding to Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s shot.
The video is shared on the platform even as Prime Minister Balendra Shah said that Nepal has proof that Kalapani and Lipulekh—the disputed territory at Nepal India border—belong to Nepal, while addressing his party’s general convention in Chitwan.
TikTok user @drmitharam posted a video carrying two separate clips one showing Prime Minister Balendra Shah speaking and the other showing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath speaking. Text superimposed on the video reads, “Balendra’s shot [commented aimed at India] has instigated hue and cry in Indian media. Yogi vs Balen. Nepal will not back down.”
In one of the clips, Yogi Adithyanath is heard saying, “I gave 24-hour ultimatum to the land Mafia who occupied the government land in Uttar Pradesh. When we swing into action, they won’t have any choice but to vacate the land. Along with that, we will try to recover gains along with interests. You will be surprised that we have recovered 65,000 acres of land.”
The video caption reads, “Let India not underestimate Nepal. Nepal could be small in size but its history and independence is filled with bravery and self-respect. Friendships flourish on a foundation of equality, not dominance and control…”

The video posted on June 5 has garnered 4894 likes, 190 users have shared it and 85 people have commented.
To check the veracity of the claim, Newschecker took a key-frame showing UP Chief Minister Adityanath ran a reverse search on it. The search led us to a video, dated February 3, 2026, posted on the YouTube channel of Tribune.
The video matching the clip carried in the viral video showed Yogi Adithyanath recalling how the government has reclaimed over 65,000 acres through strict action.

We also found a news article, dated February 4, 2026, posted on organiser online. The news body exactly matched words expressed by Adityanath in the clip carried in the viral video.

Further, we checked another a video, dated February 4, 2026, posted on a verified Instagram account named tube.indian and found that the video exactly matched the viral clip.
We then ran a reverse search on another frame captured from another clip showing Prime Minister Balendra Shah. The search led us to a video, dated February 16, 2026, posted on the Facebook page named Rastra Press Media.
On checking the video, we found that clip actually showed Balendra Shah explaining the true meaning of landless squatters during his election campaign.
Thus, our findings clearly showed that the viral video is made up by collating unrelated clips with exaggerated text laid on top.
No, Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s words have not caused any hue and cry in the Indian media. The clips carried in the viral video are not related. The clip showing Yogi Adityanath is actually an old video of him recalling how his firm position successfully reclaimed government land in Uttar Pradesh. Thus, the claim is misleading.
