A video allegedly showing Nepali cine artist Rajesh Hamal praising the victory of Argentina and dismissing the allegations of bias in a FIFA World Cup match is going viral on TikTok.
The video went viral in the wake of Argentina’s 3-2 comeback victory over Egypt in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16. The match, tainted by controversial refereeing decisions, sparked outrage among Egyptian officials, players, and fans due to two decisive Video Assistant Referee (VAR) decisions.
Against this backdrop, TikTok user @speed8817 posted a video showing Rajesh Hamal clad in an Argentina jersey with Messi written on it speaking on camera. In the video, Hamal is heard saying, “Stop blaming the referee for everything. Argentina showed quality confidence and determination throughout the match. That’s why they won, give credit where it deserves.” Text superimposed on the video reads, “It is done after the brother has spoken about it.”

The video posted on July 9 has garnered 26.2k likes, 5526 users have shared it and 1631 people have commented until the last count.
The video was also shared by Facebook user Khushiman Gurung.

To check the veracity, we checked the verified social media pages of Nepali superstar Rajesh Hamal including Facebook and TikTok. But we did not find any credible post or video on Hamal’s social media to support the claim.
We then checked the video through several AI detection tools.
Hive Moderation indicated that the audio carried in the video is 98.4% likely to be generated by AI. Resemble AI found that the audio carried in the viral video is 99.095 percent likely to be AI-generated.


AI detection tool Undetectable AI flagged signs of deepfake in the video, while TruthScan found the video to be 775 AI generated.


Thus, our findings clearly showed that the viral video is generated by using AI.
No, Nepali cine artist Rajesh Hamal has not openly praised the world cup football match of Argentina while brushing aside the allegation of biassed refereeing. The viral video is AI generated.
