Fact Check /Verification
To check the authenticity of the claim made in the viral video, Newschecker looked up verified social media pages of the renowned heavyweight boxing champion and found his Instagram page. On checking his Instagram page, we found that he has been regularly updating the platform with his photos and videos.
We also found the verified handle of Tyson’s Twitter, now called X, and his regular posts on the platform. He has been posting similar images and videos on both the platforms.
Newschecker also found an article about Mike Tyson published on the Co-operation of World Wide Broadcast (CooPWB) which confirmed that the heavyweight boxing legend is alive as of September 28.
Further, we split the video into several keyframes and conducted reverse searches on them. One of the searches led us to an article, dated March 25 2026, carrying an image used in the viral video. The image shows a devastated mother who lost her two children, partner, sister, and mother in a tragedy in Ireland carrying a coffin.
Thus, our findings clearly show that the image used in the video was made up by using an unrelated image.
Conclusion
The viral video claiming that Mike Tyson has passed away is misleading, as the heavyweight boxing legend is still alive as of today.
