US President Donald Trump said India's Prime Minister Modi killed millions of people in Gujarat back in 2002.
No, the viral video is doctored.
A video allegedly showing US President Donald Trump saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a killer who killed millions in Gujarat in 2002 and was banned from entering the United States is going viral.
The video is being shared in the wake of a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France.
TikTok user @politicia_002 posted a video showing US President Donald Trump in a bilateral meeting with India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the video, Donald Trump is heard saying, “Very tough negotiator. One of the toughest actually. He is the most beautiful looking man. He looks so nice. He is like an angel. But actually he is as tough as he is a killer. He killed millions in Gujarat back in 2002 for which he was banned in the US. But he looks so good. He gets you by surprise. There are a few people like this. People say he is such a nice man. I say he is a tough trader. And he loves the Indian people, but he also loves the USA.”
Text superimposed on the video reads, “Trump called Modi a killer, he killed millions in Gujarat back in 2002.”

The video posted on June 18 has garnered 11k likes, 5042 users have shared it and 286 people have commented until the last count.
A reverse search on a key-frame from the viral video led us to a video, dated June 17, 2026 posted on the YouTube channel of NDTV Profit. We found the video footage from 5:16-minute to 5:31-minute exactly matched first 15 seconds of the viral video and the NDTV video footage from 5:32-minute to 5:49-minute exactly matched the second portion of the viral video except for the middle five seconds segment where Trump is heard saying the controversial things about PM Modi.
Upon checking the original clip, we did not find Trump making any reference to Gujarat or a US ban on Modi.
We found clear discrepancies in the viral video from 15 to 20 seconds. We noticed golden flashes at the beginning and end of the segment showing Trump making the controversial statement.

The backdrop text becomes distorted during the segment, indicating possible manipulation.
We then checked the video by using AI detection tools. Resemble AI flagged sigs of deep fake in the video. Undetectable AI found the audio in the discrepant segment likely to be AI-generated. Similarly, Hiya Deepfake Voice Detector also assessed the controversial audio segment as likely a deepfake.

Thus, our findings clearly showed that the viral video is manipulated by inserting fabricated content in the video showing a meeting between US President Donald Trump and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France.
No, US President Donald Trump did not say Prime Minister Modi “killed millions of people in Gujarat back in 2002 for which he was banned in the US.” The viral video is fabricated.
