Newschecker found the claim to be misleading.
To check the veracity of the claim, Newschecker ran a keyword search for ‘Bipin Joshi’ that threw up several news articles confirming that the Nepali student is not alive.
On checking an article, dated October 13, 2025, posted on BBC online, we found that Hamas’s military wing has confirmed the names of four hostages including Bipin Joshi whose bodies will be returned to Israel.
Further, we found another article, dated October 13, 2025, posted on Times of Israel. The article reported Israel on Monday received caskets holding what Hamas said were the bodies of four slain hostages from Gaza including the body of Nepali student Bipin Joshi. “The IDF said troops in the Gaza Strip received four caskets, with the apparent bodies of slain hostages, from the Red Cross on Monday evening,” the article reported.
We also found another article, dated October 14, posted on Kathmandu post online confirming that Nepali youth Bipin Joshi is confirmed dead 738 days after his abduction.
Thus, our findings clearly show that Bipin Joshi is not released alive, and his dead body has been handed over to the Israeli authorities.
No, Nepali student, who was abducted by Hamas militants, has not been released alive. Bipin Joshi is confirmed dead in Hamas captivity and his dead body has been handed over to Israeli authority. Thus, the claim is misleading.
