A video claiming that the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has been appointed as the Home Minister again is going viral on TikTok.
The video is going viral at a time when the post of Home Minister is lying vacant following the resignation of Sudan Gurung on April 22, 2026. Gurung stepped down following mounting scrutiny over his controversial share investments and alleged financial partnerships with controversial business figures, including power broker Deepak Bhatta.
In this context, TikTok user @sambarkingtv posted a news clip showing RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane entering the Home Ministry after being appointed as Home Minister for a second time. The narrator of the video says, “Rabi Lamichhane has entered the Home Ministry for a second time. We are showing you the scene of Lamichhane entering Singha Durbar as a tiger.” The video shows officials and his well-wishers congratulating Lamichhane by garlanding him and offering bouquets. The video also carries a photo showing RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane and Prime Minister Balendra Shah. Text superimposed on the video reads, “Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane.”

The 2:05-minute video posted on May 24 has garnered 24k likes, 722 users have shared it and 912 people have commented until the last count.
