Newschecker found the claim to be false.
To check the veracity of the claim, Newschecker ran a search for news regarding Kathmandu district court’s order to arrest Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. However, the search did not yield any credible results published on any mainstream media. Had the Kathmandu district court really issued an order to arrest Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, it would have become a big breaking news.
We then checked the website of the Supreme Court of Nepal where the court orders are published. We also checked the website of Kathmandu District to check if the court has issued any order to arrest Minister Lekhahk. However, we didn’t find any order seeking the arrest of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
On digging further, we found news reports (See here & here) on the disruption of the House of Representatives meeting by lawmakers of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) demanding resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over the visit visa controversy.
A news article, dated June 13, 2025, published on Kathmandu Post, noted that Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, speaking at the House meeting, denied his involvement in the visit visa scam. According to the news, Lekhak argued that there was no truth to the social media and media reports linking him to the visit visa case investigated by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
Thus, our findings clearly showed that the viral video is exaggerated against the backdrop of the allegation of his involvement in visit visa scam.
No, the Kathmandu District Court has not issued an order to arrest Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. The claim made by the viral video is baseless and thus is false.
