A video claiming that Nepali Communist Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s daughter Ganga Dahal broke down in tears after it became certain that she and her husband Jeevan would go to jail is going viral on TikTok.
TikTok user @mrkarkiofficial posted a video showing Ganga Dahal and her sister Renu Dahal, who is also mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, becoming emotional and hugging each other. The video also carries a photo showing Ganga Dahal and her husband Jeevan Acharya. Audio accompanying the video presented in a news reporting style says, “Prachanda’s [Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s] youngest daughter Ganga Dahal broke down in tears after it became certain that she and her husband would be jailed on money laundering cases.”
Text superimposed on the video reads, “Prachanda’s youngest daughter Ganga Dahal and son-in-law Jeevan Acharya in money laundering case. Corrupt and traitors should go to jail. Feudal lords and sinners involved in draining the nation would be punished in this lifetime for their sin. Prachanda’s daughter Ganga Dahal is the second-most corrupt person after Arzu Rana.”
The video posted on October 20 has garnered 5894 likes, 535 users have shared it and 612 people have commented until the last count.

Newschecker found the claim to be misleading.
Fact Check /Verification
To check the veracity of the claim, Newschecker split the video into several key frames and ran reverse searches on it. A Google reverse search led us to a video, dated May 24, 2022, posted on the Facebook page of popular Onlinekhabar.
On checking the video, we found that the first eight seconds of the video exactly matched the viral clip. The video caption reads, “Renu Dahal with her sister Ganga Dahal after being elected as mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan city.”
We also found the same video, dated May 24, 2022, posted on the Facebook page of Kantipath online. The post caption accompanying the video reads, “Renu Dahal with her sister Ganga Dahal and relatives after winning the mayoral post of Bharatpur Metropolitan city with 52,028 votes.”
Further, we ran several searches by using both Nepali and English key phrases to check if Ganga Dahal has been convicted in a money laundering case. However, the search didn’t yield any results. Rather we found several news articles (See here , & here) about Ganga Dahal’s resignation from the party chairman’s secretariat.
According to an article, dated October 20, 2025, posted on Khabarhub online, daughter of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Ganga Dahal resigned from his secretariat amid what she described as a smear campaign and character assassination attempts against her on social media and in some media outlets.
Thus, our findings clearly indicated that the viral video is from May 2022 when Renu Dahal was elected as the mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, and that Ganga Dahal has not been convicted in a money laundering case.
Conclusion
No, Ganga Dahal has not been convicted in a money laundering case. The viral video actually shows an old clip of Ganga Dahal sharing an emotional moment with her sister Renu Dahal after the latter was elected as the mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.
