Claim
As the students of Grade X are eagerly waiting for the results of Secondary Education Examination (SEE), TikTok user @beekash56 posted a video claiming that the national examination board is going to announce the SEE results later in the day.
The video carries a screenshot of an instruction guide for checking the SEE results for academic year 2080/81 (2023/24 AD). The audio accompanying the video presented in news bulletin style says, “The results of SEE will be published today. The national examination board is preparing to make the results public in the grading system like earlier.”
Fact
The Secondary Education Exam (Grade X) was conducted earlier this year in April by the National Examination Board. A total of 485,396 students were registered to sit for the exams.
We began by looking up the official website of the National Education Board but didn’t find any news or notice that this year’s SEE results have been published.
We then checked the original audio feature of TikTok and found the original video was clipped from the news bulletin of Artha Sarokar online. The original audio by Artha Sarokar journalist Radhika Shrestha was posted on July 7, 2023. We found several videos reproduced by using the same audio. However, we couldn’t find the original clip on several platforms of verified social media pages.
Further, we ran a search on several platforms to check when the SEE result was published the previous year and found several news reports on the Grade X results published by major media on July 6, 2023 (See here, here and here).
Further, Newscheker reached out to an official at National Education Board Sanothimi, Narayani Panthi, who confirmed that the board is not going to publish the result on Tuesday, adding that they are working with the target to announce the results within the second week of the Nepali month of Ashad [the fourth week of June].
Thus, our findings clearly indicate that the viral video is misleading.
Conclusion
No, the National Examination Board is not going to announce the SEE results today. The news bulletin voiceover played in the background is old, and thus the viral video is misleading.
Result: False
