Claim

Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal enthralled the crowd by singing a Nepali song titled ‘Na Muche Aama Dahima Tika’.

A 25-second video allegedly showing Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal singing a Nepali song is going viral on TikTok.  Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Rabina Tondon, Anil Kapoor and Johnny Walker, among others, are also seen attending the concert.

Fact

To check the veracity of the claim made in the viral video, Newshchecker split the video into several key-frames and conducted reverse searches on them. A Google reverse search on a frame from the viral video led us to a Facebook Reel, whose frame matched the viral video, posted by one Nirma Pandi.

We took a key-frame from the video and ran a Google reverse search on it. The results threw up several results matching the viral video. On checking a video, dated August 7, 2022, published on a YouTube channel named Shreya Ghoshal AVS, we found that the video bears resemblance to the viral video including the stage dress worn by Ghoshal and Bollywood actor Salman Khan attending the event. The video showed Shreya Ghoshal singing a tribute song to Lata Mangeshkar.

Further, we also found another video, dated August 19, 2022, published on the YouTube channel of SET India Television. On checking the video of Shreya Ghoshal’s tribute to late legendary Singer Lata Mangeshkar, we found several matches from the viral video. The video descriptions noted Ghoshal also paid tribute to the Mumbai Police on the star-studded night of Umang 2022

Thus, our findings clearly showed that the viral video showed Singer Shreya Ghoshal performing during a tribute concert to late Lata Mangeskar and she is not singing a Nepali song.

No, Indian singer Shreya Ghoshal is not singing a Nepali song titled ‘Na Muche Aama Dahima Tika’. The viral video actually shows 2022 video of Ghoshal performing a UMANG concert in Mumbai with a false audio of a Nepali song laid on top. Thus, the viral claim is misleading.

Result: False
