Fact
To check the authenticity of the claim made in the viral video, Newschecker took a key frame from the viral video and conducted a reverse search. The search led us to a video report, dated December 13, 2013, posted on the YouTube channel of Euro News. On checking the video, we found that the video frames from 0.12-minute onwards exactly matched the viral video.
The video descriptions mentioned that the clip shows pedestrians battling a powerful storm in Aalesund, Norway. It also noted that a storm named “Ivar” was blowing things and people around and police had to assist people in moving around.
We also found the same Euronews video carried in Buzz Feed online.
Further, we found an article, carrying an image matching a frame from the viral video, published in Fox25 online about Storm ‘Ivar’ hitting Aalesund, Norway. The news dated December 15, 2013 also quoted Euro News about the storm.
Thus, our findings clearly show that the viral video allegedly showing a recent clip of people battling a powerful wind in Canada is actually a ten-year video from Norway.
